– The Consulate General of Vietnam in New York and authorities of Jersey City in the US State of New Jersey held a ceremony on Thursday to raise the national flag at the city hall to celebrate Vietnam’s 76th National Day. At the flag-hoisting ceremony, Jersey City Councilwoman Joyce Watterman described the ceremony as an act to honor the freedom of different cultures, saying war was a thing of the past and now, both sides are moving together to the future.
She handed a statement signed by the Mayor of Jersey City, adding that on September 2, 2021, Jersey City honored Vietnam’s National Day, a historic moment to illustrate the close friendship between the US and Vietnam.
The ceremony was held for the first time ever in Jersey City, kicking off a series of exchange activities between the Jersey City Hall and the Consulate General of Vietnam in New York.
