Vietnam Seeks UPU Support for Postal Sector Modernization

Hanoi, Vietnam - Vietnam is actively seeking expertise and technical assistance from the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to modernize and enhance the competitiveness of its postal sector. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized this need during his meeting with UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki in Hanoi on November 24.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Quang expressed his appreciation for the UPU's innovation efforts, particularly in adapting to digital age requirements, and conveyed confidence in the union's ability to address challenges collaboratively with member countries. Metoki praised Vietnam's postal development strategies and acknowledged its significant role in the UPU Postal Operations Council (POC). He affirmed the UPU's commitment to sharing experiences and providing technical support to Vietnam. The UPU, established in 1874 and based in Berne, is the second oldest international organization, with 192 member countries. It serves as a key platform for cooperation among postal sector stakeholders, fostering a universal network of modern postal products and services.
