Trat, The Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand and his team met with the Deputy Governor of Trat Province to present the expressway project connecting Koh Chang. Yesterday (July 9, 2024) at 09.15 a.m., Mr. Surachet Laopoolsuk, Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT), along with Ms. Nattha Kasi, Director of Expressway Project Development, Mr. Thisan Phrutthiphong, Director of Expressway Project Development Division, Mr. Anek Kotpromsri, Director of Environmental Management Division, Mr. Ratchanai Premprakin, Director of Corporate Communication Division, and relevant officials attended the meeting of the Joint Public and Private Sector Committee to Develop and Solve Trat's Economic Problems at the Ploy Daeng Meeting Room, Trat Provincial Hall, to present the background of the Koh Chang Expressway Project, Trat Province, as well as to publicize and disseminate information to create understanding of the implementation of this study to the Deputy Governor of Trat and relevant governme nt agencies, as well as to listen to opinions and suggestions that are beneficial to the project in order to use the opinions and suggestions obtained in the next step of the study. On this occasion, there was the Trat provincial executive committee led by Mr. Narong Thepsena, Deputy Governor of Trat Province, who chaired the meeting and welcomed Mr. Surachet Laopoolsuk, Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand and his team, which included Mr. Chaiphon Phutonglom, Head of Trat Provincial Office, Mr. Rangsan Ruangsawat, Director of Strategy and Information Group for Provincial Development, as well as government agencies and private sector agencies involved in the province, totaling more than 50 agencies, who attended the meeting. This meeting is a result of the 2/2020 meeting of the Trat Provincial Committee for Thailand. The Ministry of Transport has issued an order dated February 10, 2023 for the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) to consider conducting a survey and design of a bridge across K oh Chang. Therefore, EXAT has conducted a feasibility study in terms of engineering, economics, finance, and environmental impacts of the Koh Chang Expressway Project in Trat Province to provide another option for road users to travel to Koh Chang more conveniently and safely. It also increases the potential for transportation and increases the efficiency of travel to Koh Chang and promotes tourism even more. The objectives are to study the feasibility in terms of engineering, economics, and finance, to survey and design a detailed framework (Definitive Design), to study and prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the Koh Chang Expressway Project. Mr. Nattapong Songwanchit, Governor of Trat Province, along with relevant government agencies in the province, gave their opinions on the project as follows: Proposing the concept of potential starting and ending points and the suitability of the project in terms of engineering, economic, social and tourism promotion value in Trat city. Listen to opinions on approaches to economic development, social value and tourism in the provincial city. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) guidelines avoid impacts on environmentally sensitive areas, educational institutions, religious buildings, government offices, communities, and national forest reserves. In this regard, government agencies, private sectors, and the public sector of Trat Province are ready to support the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) in expediting the study of the project's feasibility to move forward at full speed. In the afternoon, we went to survey the area where we plan to build a connecting road from the mainland, in the areas of Laem Ngop, Ao Tha Kradan, and Ao Thammachat. And today (July 10, 2024), the Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand and his team surveyed the area where a connecting route from Koh Chang is expected to be built at Ban Dan Mai, Ban Khlong Ta Ket, and the Koh Chang Ferry Port (Ban Ao Sapparot).
