Admiral Adung Phan-iam, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy (C-in-C) and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Organizing the Royal Barge Procession (KJRP) on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024, presided over the opening ceremony of the Royal Barge Procession Training, with 2,200 Royal Barge Procession personnel and royal ceremonial rowers joining the ceremony at the Royal Monument of King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII Bridge, Bang Phlat District. The Navy Commander gave a speech to the personnel, saying, 'Everyone is the pride of the Navy. Everyone is the pride of the entire Thai people. I ask everyone to be proud to be a part of this most important royal ceremony and to do their duty t o the fullest so that the Royal Barge Procession will be smooth, elegant and worthy of His Majesty. I ask that you take care of accidents with caution and be in good health. As the royal ceremony draws near, please take care of your health and be strong.' For the format of the Royal Barge Procession this time, a total of 52 royal barges were used, 1,200 meters long and 90 meters wide, with a total of 2,200 personnel on board. The rehearsal for the royal barge procession was organized in the same manner as ancient royal traditions in every respect. The barge procession was divided into 5 rows and 3 lines: - The middle line, which is an important line of boats, consists of 4 royal barges: the Suphannahong Royal Barge, the Anantanakarat Royal Barge, the Narai Song Suban Royal Barge of King Rama IX, and the Anekchatphuchong Royal Barge. In addition, there are the E Luang Boat, the Klong Nok Boat, the Taeng Mo Boat, which are the boats of the commander of the fleet, the Klong Nai Boat, along with the Police Boat Outside and Police Boat Inside. -Inner row, flanking the left and right sides of the center left row, are Ruea Thong Kwan Fa and Ruea Thong Ba Bin, which are the front door boats, Ruea Suea Thayan Chon and Ruea Suea Kamron Sindhu, which are destroyers, 8 animal-shaped boats, and ending the inner row with Ruea Ekkachai Henhao and Ruea Ekkachai Law Thong, which are twin-towed boats. -Outer rowing line is on the left and right side of the inner rowing line. The rehearsal for the procession will start with 10 small rehearsals for the boat procession in the Chao Phraya River as follows: 1, 8, 15, 22 August; 3, 12, 19, 26 September; 1 and 10 October. For the full dress rehearsal, 2 times on October 15 and 22, and the final rehearsal on October 24, the royal ceremony is scheduled for October 27, 2024. The public can watch the rehearsal along the entire route of the procession. Public areas where people can watch closely are as follows: Thonburi side, u nder Rama VIII Bridge, near the King Rama VIII Monument, 72nd Anniversary Chalermprakiat Park, beside Siriraj Hospital, Wat Rakhang Khositaram Pier, and Wat Arun Ratchawararam. Phra Nakhon side, at Santichaiprakan Park, beside Phra Sumen Fort, Tha Maharaj Pier, and Tha Chang Pier, starting at 3:00 p.m. where the royal barges start moving in the procession area at Rama VIII Bridge until the ceremony ends at Wat Arun Ratchawararam.
