The Cabinet approved the results of the bilateral meeting between the Thai and Cambodian tourism ministers.

Government House, "Ratklao", deputy government spokesperson, revealed that the cabinet has approved the draft document of the results of the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia bilateral tourism ministerial meeting, moving forward with the concept of "Two Kingdoms, One Destination". Ms. Ratklao Intawong Suwannakiri, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that the Cabinet meeting (16 July 2024) resolved to approve two draft documents of the outcome of the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia bilateral tourism ministerial meeting, as proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS). Mrs. Ratklao said that Thailand, through the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS), will host the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia Bilateral Ministerial Meeting on Tourism on 18 July 2024 in Bangkok. The MOTS has prepared and proposed a draft document on the outcome of the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia Bilateral Ministerial Meeting on Tourism, including: 1. The Joint Action Plan on Tourism Cooperation 2023-2025 between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia is a short-term strategic plan that sets out strategies and actions necessary to achieve the objective of enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries through promoting the flow of tourists between each other. There will be cooperation in 5 areas as follows: (1) Cross-border cooperation and coordination to facilitate travel and transit; (2) Tourism promotion and joint marketing under the concept of 'Two Kingdoms, One Destination'; (3) Tourism personnel development; (4) Tourism quality development; and (5) Tourism investment. 2. The draft joint statement of the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia bilateral ministerial meeting on tourism has content that focuses on the progress of the implementation of the joint action plan on tourism cooperation, including: (1) Promoting travel facilitation and cross-border connectivity through the development and improvement of tourism facilities, including air, sea and land connectivity. (2) Implementation of marketing projects and strat egies under the main theme of 'Two Kingdoms, One Destination', joint global package training, study tours and tourism trade fairs. (3) Development of tourism personnel through promoting cooperation in organizing training and reskilling projects and upskilling existing skills (upskill) of tourism personnel, including supporting the movement of tourism labor, especially under the Joint Agreement on the Recognition of ASEAN Tourism Personnel Qualifications. (4) Development of tourism quality through the setting of tourism service standards to ensure the safety of tourists traveling to both countries, including the exchange of knowledge and best practices on the development of tourism standards. (5) Investment in tourism through expanding business networks between tourism operators and investors, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and increasing economic benefits throughout the region, resulting in tourism sector resilience and promoting cooperation and innovation, leading to becoming an attract ive destination for tourists of both countries. The content of the outcome document of the 3rd Thailand-Cambodia Regional Ministerial Meeting on Tourism states the intention of Thailand and Cambodia to promote bilateral cooperation in tourism. The relevant agencies jointly considered that it is appropriate, consistent with the policies and interests of the countries, and can be implemented under the current laws, regulations and rules.
