Bangkok, Metropolitan Police Bureau has arrested a 28-year-old man suspected of fraud after he deceived victims into buying Laboo dolls, resulting in a loss of 125,400 baht. The Metropolitan Police Bureau arrested Mr. Bowontat, 28, a suspect with an arrest warrant from the Min Buri Criminal Court on charges of fraud and the Computer Act. In this case, the victim posted on Facebook announcing that he was buying Labooboo dolls. During that time, a Facebook user contacted the victim, saying that he had 11 boxes of products, could pick them up, and had a storefront at a shopping mall in the Saphan Lek area. The victim checked and found that the store did exist, so he agreed to buy the products for 11,400 baht per box, totaling 125,400 baht, by transferring the money to the seller's bank account. However, when it was time to receive the products, the store said that they had not received any money and could not contact the seller again. Therefore, he realized that he had been scammed and filed a complaint. The investigators then collected evidence leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant and the arrest of the suspect. During the arrest, the suspect denied the charges, admitting that he was the person on Facebook but did not know the details of the scam. He only received 10,000 baht, but the officers did not believe him. They then took him to Lam Phak Chi Police Station for further legal action. Source: Thai News Agency
