Ministry of Industry launches the Industry Unity Project to reduce carbon in Thailand by 7.2 million tons

Bangkok, The Ministry of Industry has joined forces with government agencies, the private sector, and the public to organize the 'United Industry Project to Reduce Thai Carbon by 7.2 Million Tons in Honor of His Majesty the King on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024.' Dr. Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, said that the Ministry of Industry, together with 13 agencies from the government and private sectors, organized the 'United Industry Project to Reduce Thai Carbon by 7.2 Million Tons in Honor of His Majesty the King on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024' to show loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty the King for the Thai people, as well as to enhance the sense of giving by supporting and promoting business establishments to be socially responsible and to be able to coexist with the community sustainably under the MIND policy, using the 'head' and ' heart' to shape industry alongside the community so that industrial establishments can grow in a balanced and sustainable manner through 4 dimensions: business success, overall well-being with society, compatibility with international rules, and income distribution to the communities where they are located. The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector by 7.2 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year through driving activities in 8 areas, totaling 298 activities, including: Part 1: Reducing, absorbing and sequestering greenhouse gases from the forestry and agriculture sectors, totaling 13 activities, reducing 2,934,277 tons, such as campaigning to reduce sugarcane burning, developing and restoring mining areas for sustainable use, and planting trees to increase green spaces. Part 2: Upgrading entrepreneurs to the standard of reducing emissions or absorbing greenhouse gases. 1 activity can reduce 2,000,000 tons. Section 3: Use of renewable energy or energy that replaces fo ssil fuels, 209 activities, reduced by 1,140,429 tons, such as activities to produce electricity from biomass fuel and activities to use sugarcane leaves and tops as biomass fuel in sugar factories and biomass power plants that are continuous from sugar factories. Section 4: Improving energy efficiency in buildings and factories, 44 activities, reducing 796,525 tons, such as activities to increase energy efficiency with technology and innovation (IoT, AI, Capacitor bank) and activities to reduce waste from the production process. Section 5 Chemical management, 3 activities, reduced by 200,961 tons, such as refrigerant incineration activities. Section 6 Promotion and adjustment of automotive standards, 5 activities, reduced by 91,873 tons. Section 7 Resource management (water/waste/raw materials).
