The situation of fuel consumption in the 5-month period of 2024 (Jan-May) decreased by 0.4 percent, reflecting the Thai economy, with household LPG consumption decreasing by 0.4 percent to 5.71 million kg. Mr. Sarawut Kaewtatip, Director-General of the Department of Energy Business, revealed the overall average fuel consumption in January - May 2024 at 157.13 million liters/day, a decrease of 0.4 percent compared to the same period last year, with fuel oil decreasing by 21.6 percent, NGV decreasing by 16.6 percent, and gasoline decreasing by 1.0 percent, while the use of commercial aviation fuel (Jet A1) increased by 17.9 percent, LPG increased by 3.8 percent, and diesel fuel at gas stations increased by 3.2 percent. The average use of gasoline was 31.59 million liters/day, down 1.00 percent from the same period last year. The use of gasohol E85 decreased to 0.07 million liters/day, gasoline decreased to 0.42 million liters/day, gasohol E20 decreased to 5.48 million liters/day, and gasohol 95 decreased to 1 7.46 million liters/day. Meanwhile, the use of gasohol 91 increased to 7.83 million liters/day. The average use of diesel fuel was 69.30 million liters/day, an increase of 3.2 percent. The use of regular diesel fuel increased by 3.2 percent from the same period last year to 69.14 million liters/day. B20 decreased by 2.8 percent from the previous year to 0.15 million liters/day. The average commercial aviation fuel consumption (Jet A1) was 16.08 million liters/day, an increase of 17.9 percent from the same period last year, driven by the recovery during the tourist season and support from the government, which agreed to adjust the measure to allow foreigners from 93 countries to enter the Kingdom without a visa (can stay in Thailand for no more than 60 days). It is expected that this measure will help stimulate more foreign tourists to travel to Thailand. The average LPG consumption was 18.01 million kg/day, an increase of 3.8 percent from the same period last year, with the petrochemical sector increasing by 9.3 percent to 8.03 million kg/day, and the transportation sector increasing by 2.8 percent to 2.32 million kg/day. The volume of LPG consumption has increased due to the operations of the petrochemical sector, while the consumption in the industrial sector decreased by 3.4 percent to 1.96 million kg/day and the household sector decreased by 0.4 percent to 5.71 million kg/day. The Cabinet has approved the fixing of the retail price of LPG at 423 baht/15 kg cylinder, effective from April 1 to June 30, 2024. The average NGV usage is 2.91 million kg/day, down 16.6 percent. PTT has approved a 2-year NGV price assistance plan. In the first period (January - June 2024), PTT will reduce the NGV price for taxis and public buses in Bangkok and its vicinity who hold privilege cards at 14.62 baht/kg. New applicants will be accepted starting in February 2024, with the retail price of NGV for general vehicle users set at no more than 19.59 baht/kg for a period of 6 months (from January to June 2024). Fuel oil imports from January to May 2024 averaged 1,046,365 barrels/day, down 3.0 percent from the same period of the previous year, with a total import value of 99,970 million baht/month. Of this, crude oil imports were 986,155 barrels/day, down 1.7 percent, with a crude oil import value of 95,166 million baht/month. As for finished oil imports (basic gasoline, basic diesel, fuel oil, aviation fuel, and LPG), they were 60,210 barrels/day, down 21.0 percent, with a finished oil import value of 4,804 million baht/month. Export of finished oil in January - May 2024 is export of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, aviation fuel, kerosene and LPG with export volume at 155,148 barrels/day, an increase of 1.3 percent, total export value of 16,163 million baht/month.
