England, England returned to London. The atmosphere was quiet amid rumors of a change in the team. England manager Gareth Southgate returned to London on Monday in a quiet mood after losing 2-1 to Spain and finishing as runners-up at Euro 2024, and also suffering a heartbreaking second-place finish. Harry Kane, the captain, and his teammates walked off the plane before flying home, with only a few fans around to welcome and support them, amid rumors that they want a change in the team. Gary Lineker, the former England striker, has come out to comment that Southgate should step down, judging from the performance and form of the Three Lions team in this Euro, and has suggested that Jurgen Klopp, the former German manager of the "Reds" Liverpool, should take over the team instead. He also thinks that Harry Kane, who is 30 years old and has not played himself in this tournament, should retire from playing for the national team. Sir Geoff Hurst, the legendary striker for the English national team, disagreed an d wanted Southgate to remain in charge of the team. Judging from the overall performance of the team in the past 6 years, he led the team to two consecutive Euro finals, even though they only finished as runners-up both times. However, it all depends on Southgate's decision. While the Football Association (FA) has expressed its desire for Southgate to sign a two-year contract extension after being pleased with the team's overall performance before the Euro 2024 final, despite the team losing to Spain and finishing as runners-up, Southgate's contract with the Three Lions ends in December.
